Workforce Center is Hosting Workforce Seminar--December 15—3PM-4:30PM--Red Wing Workforce Center DEED and the Department of Labor and Industry are trying to help fill the skill gap in 5 targeted sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Transportation, Agriculture, IT and Healthcare.
To assist with this, they are offering to help individual businesses set up Apprenticeship Programs. There is an allowance of up to $5000.00 that is paid directly to the business with an approved plan. Those plans MUST include career steps and pay increases for the worker. LaRohn Latimer and 2 others from the Labor Standards & Apprenticeship Division, MN Department of Labor & Industry will be discussing the details of this program. In addition, Jim Wendorff, VP of Human Resources at VIRACON, who are currently using this Apprenticeship Program will address the requirements from a business perspective. This event is FREE.
