The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, the State of Wisconsin and the City of Red Wing, has initiated the Red Wing Bridge Project. The Project includes the Highway 63 (Eisenhower) Bridge over the Mississippi River and the Highway 63 Bridge over Highway 61, as well as the highway connections to Highway 61, Minnesota Highway 58 and approach roadways in Wisconsin. MnDOT is currently in the preliminary design phase, which includes gathering data and reviewing options to determine if the bridges should be rehabilitated or replaced. Final design is scheduled to be completed between 2014 and 2017. Construction is proposed for summer 2018.
The business community and general public are invited to attend an informational meeting with MnDOT staff, consultants and local representatives to introduce the project, answer questions and receive comments and input. The open house is scheduled for Thursday, April 12 from 5--7PM at the Red Wing Public Library (225 East Avenue), Foot Room (lower level). A short presentation will be given at 5:30PM. This meeting is a great opportunity to learn about the project, the process, key issues, provide feedback and get involved.
