New Contemporary Art Gallery Opens in Downtown Red Wing, Revitalizing a Historic Space and Advancing Red Wing as an Arts Destination Impermanence, an International Exhibition Bringing Regional, National, and International Artists to Red Wing RED WING, Minn. — M.E.T. Projects, a new contemporary art gallery in historic downtown Red Wing, will open its inaugural international group exhibition, Impermanence, on August 16, 2026. On view through September 20, the exhibition brings together regional, national, and international artists in a thoughtful exploration of the transient nature of human experience. Located on the second floor of a carefully restored historic downtown building, M.E.T. Projects has transformed a long-neglected space into a new destination for contemporary art in Red Wing. Led by artists and art historians, the gallery is dedicated to thoughtfully curated exhibitions that foster dialogue among artistic traditions, cultures, and ideas, while contributing to Red Wing’s growing arts community and Minnesota’s broader visual arts landscape. Featured artists include acclaimed American artist Steven Sorman; artists and longtime University of Minnesota art educators Thomas Rose, Tom Lane, and Gary Hallman; and internationally recognized Hong Kong artist Lei Yan, a leading figure in contemporary Asian art. They are joined by established and emerging artists from Red Wing and the surrounding region, as well as Asian artists working within the literati traditions of painting and calligraphy, carrying forward a centuries-old intellectual and artistic heritage.
