The historic museums of Red Wing host the second annual Museum Crawl—where history comes alive! The Crawl takes place on May 29 from 3-8PM, May 30 from 9AM-5PM, and May 31 from 11AM-5PM. Participating museums are: Aliveo Military Museum—321 Bush Street; American Ski Jumping Museum & Hall of Fame—406 Main Street (Mezzanine level of St. James Hotel); Goodhue County History Center—1166 Oak Street; Pottery Museum of Red Wing—240 Harrison Street; Red Wing Marine Museum—910 Levee Road; and Red Wing Shoe Museum (inside Red Wing Shoe Store)—315 Main Street). Admission is free during the three-day Museum Crawl.
Visit each museum to meet history characters that will share their stories about the Red Wing area. Each character will indulge visitors in learning how their lives were affected by other people and events of the day. The Pottery Museum of Red Wing will have multiple characters throughout the weekend. The Goodhue County Historical Society will feature Nell Mabey, a published poet from Lake City and important player in the establishment of Frontenac State Park, on Saturday from 1-3PM. Frances Densmore, an anthropologist and ethnographer, will also make an appearance at the Historical Society. You can visit the museums in any order. Pick up a passport at the first museum you visit, and collect a stamp from each museum. Completed passports will be entered into a drawing for a prize. The drawing will take place on Sunday at 6 p.m. Visit all six Red Wing History Museums
