    Event Description:
Genocide Awareness Campaign—October 27-29—Red Wing Library
The City of Red Wing Human Rights Commission is standing up against genocide with a three-day event promoting education and action, October 27-October 29, at the Red Wing Public Library, 225 East Avenue. The Commission is partnering with World Without Genocide, a local human rights organization headquartered at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, the League of Women Voters- Red Wing, and the American Association of University Women, to bring the exhibit “Tents of Witness:  Genocide and Conflict” to the library.

The exhibit has 8’ x 10’ canvas tents similar to those used in some refugee camps and uses multimedia illustrations to engage viewers in the stories of genocide worldwide. The tents highlight each group’s culture prior to the conflict, the violence endured, and the consequences of genocide. The Red Wing Public Library will feature tents with information about the Holocaust and Darfur, the American Indians, and Cambodia. The exhibits are free and open to the public (over age 12, please).
