Name: Community Forum--Local Option Sales TaxDate: June 12, 2012Time: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM CDTEvent Description:The City of Red Wing is exploring the possibility of implementing a ½ cent Local Option Sales Tax as an option for investing in our community’s future, promoting economic development, business and employment opportunities in the community, and growing Red Wing as a regional trade center. A local option sales tax can be a catalyst for future economic development as well as preserving community assets.
We encourage business owners, employees and residents to plan on attending this session and getting informed.
The Local Option Sales Tax Advisory Committee is a volunteer group of Red Wing area citizens, appointed by the City Council to solicit, evaluate and recommend capital projects of regional significance. The Council will make the final decision on whether there will be a local option sales tax ballot question and what capital projects will be included on the ballot question.
After a presentation by the Sales Tax Advisory committee, there will be an opportunity for the audience to suggest project ideas and provide feedback.
