• EXPLORE SOUTHERN MINNESOTA’S CEDAR RIVER TRAIL

    November 02, 2016
FREE LUNCHTIME PROGRAM AT THE HISTORY CENTER:
EXPLORE SOUTHERN MINNESOTA’S CEDAR RIVER TRAIL

For the last time, History Break gets a Water/Ways twist. On Wednesday, November 16th from 12-1 PM, the Goodhue County Historical Society presents A Trip Down the Historic Cedar River Water State Trail. This free program features Tim Ruzek, Educator and Water Plan Coordinator for the Mower County Soil and Water Conservation District. History Break is free and open to the public.

A Trip Down the Historic Cedar River Water State Trail will take attendees on a historical journey of the Cedar River, and how the river has influenced Mower County specifically, and southern Minnesota in general.

Drawing from historic photographs, postcards, and other primary sources, Mr. Ruzek will trace the Cedar River’s history, moving from the Ramsey Hill Pond through Austin, Minnesota. Of special emphasis will be the history of mills along the river, an industry that played a critical role in the development of both Goodhue and Mower counties. Learn more about southern Minnesota on November 16th at the Goodhue County History Center.
