Buchanan’s Grocery Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting With New Owners—February 12—Noon
Buchanan’s Grocery, located at 512 Buchanan Street, was sold November 1, 2019 to Leslie Carlson and family. Leslie also owns Mike's Butcher Shop in West Saint Paul where she has developed a strong and loyal customer base providing them with their store-made smoked sausages, legendary bacon, bratwurst, specialty meats, pizzas, homemade meals, entrees, soups, and sandwiches. Kacey Carlson, Leslie’s daughter, has moved to Red Wing and is in charge of the day to day operations here. They’re excited to be part of the Red Wing community and they invite you to stop in and meet them.
Buchanan Grocery was first opened on Buchanan Street in 1923 by Arthur Johnson and Anton Hultquist, who sold the store in 1946 to Lloyd Nelson, Christ Nelson, and Virgil Mehrkens, later joined by Alfred Bohmbach. Kevin’s parents, Don and Dolores Florine, bought the store in 1955, and Kevin joined them shortly after, taking over ownership with his wife, Ann in 1992 when Don and Dolores retired.
