    PRESS RELEASE – 10/14/2016
Indianhead Motorcycle Club is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the 2017 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship once again in Red Wing, MN. The American Motorcyclist Association event, in its 41st year, will be hosted by IMC for the 5th time since 1989. The event will be held on August 5th & 6th, 2017 – part of Red Wing’s annual River City Days celebration.

Founded in 1948, and continuously hosting motorcycle hillclimb and hill drags events since 1949 in the same location in Red Wing, Indianhead M/C is a proud member of the community. A non-profit organization, IMC regularly donates to area charities and organizations to support our friends and neighbors, and was awarded Special Congressional Recognition in 2015 for our support of local charities. Red Wing literally grew up around our club grounds, and we’re now neighbors with the city athletic fields, and the Red Wing Aces baseball team – our events are held right behind the main baseball field where the Aces play. As we approach our 70th anniversary, our events – the only motorsports events held in the city – have truly become a Red Wing tradition.

Hundreds of talented riders from across the country will converge on Red Wing to compete for national titles in more than 20 motorcycle and ATV classes, including youth classes starting at 4 years old on 50cc machines...and the Open class is anything bigger than 750cc…sometimes as large as 2,500cc! While hillclimb machines in smaller displacement classes closely resemble the production motocross bikes they are based on, 750cc and Open class machines are wild, custom-built bikes with literally earth-shaking horsepower! These riders will do battle on our 300 foot hill, with several thrilling jumps and a steep incline to challenge even the most skilled riders…some will crash as they lay it all on the line, and others will win (or lose) national championships by fractions of a second!

“We’re proud to host the national championship event again,” said IMC president Brian Marking, “and we look forward to putting on a truly premier event that Red Wing can be proud of, and that our competitors will feel privileged to compete in.”

IMC typically hosts between 4 and 6 hillclimb and hill drags events every year, providing series points in AMA districts 16 and 23. More information about these events and the 2017 AMA Hillclimb Grand Championship will be posted on the IMC website at www.IndianheadMC.org as they become available. Inquiries can be made via the contact form on the IMC website.
