Ribbon Cutting Celebration for FREE Electric Vehicle Level 3 Charging Station—November 17—11AM The City of Red Wing, the Red Wing Sustainability Commission, and the Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce have partnered together to install a Level 3 EV Fast Charger in the Mural Parking Lot, on the corner of Plum and 3rd Street. We’ll be celebrating with an official program and Ribbon Cutting at 11AM at the Mural Parking Lot. The Public is invited, so please join us!
This 2-year pilot demonstration project encourages EV owners to plug into the charger at no cost to them and then wait up to three hours to fully charge their vehicles (EV charge equates to approximately 75 miles per charge, per hour). This gives them the opportunity to explore the downtown area and visit shops, attractions and restaurants nearby. There will be 2 parking spots designated for EV charging in this lot, with one vehicle able to charge at a time.
The Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with several local businesses and collected contributions to pay for the power to the EV station and a sign listing the sponsors, asking the users to patronize those businesses and thank them. All the monies collected will be used to pay the Xcel bill and signage costs for the EV charging station.
Currently these businesses are contributing $200 each to sponsor this project for one year: Hanisch Bakery & Coffee Shop, Josephson’sClothing, Liberty’s Restaurant & Lounge, Mandy’s Coffee & Café, Oliver’s Wine Bar, Pearle Vision of Red Wing, Red Wing Bicycle Co. & Outfitter, Red Wing Brewery, Red Wing Shoe Store and the Red Wing Area Chamber of Commerce and the Visitor & Convention Bureau. Each sponsor will also receive a window sticker indicating they are a sponsor of the project.
