Red Wing Public Schools Special Election—November 7—7AM-8PM
A special election will be held for Independent School District No. 256 (Red Wing Public Schools) on November 7 from 7AM-8PM. Two questions will be on the ballot.
Voter approval of Question #1 will revoke the district’s current operating levy of $811.64, which was approved by voters in 2012 and replace it with a new operating levy of $1,235.64 per student. If Question #1 is approved, it will increase each year by the rate of inflation and be applicable for 10 years. Question #2 will increase the district’s general education revenue by an additional $500 per student. If Question #2 is approved, it will increase each year by the rate of inflation and be applicable for 10 years. Question #1 must pass for Question #2 to pass.
According to Superintendent Karsten Anderson, the District is asking the community to consider providing a source of funding that will support and enhance the quality education our students receive.
