    Decoding Workers’ Compensation—March 19—7:30AM-11:30AM—SHRM

Join the Hiawatha Valley Society for Human Resources Management for this educational seminar on Decoding Workers’ Compensation, Creating Better Outcomes for Employers and Employees. Every employer in Minnesota and Wisconsin is mandated to provide workers’ compensation benefits for their employees (with limited exceptions). While we cannot avoid paying for coverage, there are many ways we can help limit our annual spend on premiums and other expenses. Attendees of this seminar will walk away with new ideas, resources, and a better understanding of how they can take more control over their workers’ compensation related expenditures. Topics covered include: How can you avoid hiring potential problem employees and work comp liabilities by utilizing better screening processes; What you can do to control your experience mod; Identify where workers compensation and employment law issues intersect; Return-to-work—thinking outside the box to avoid lost time claims; What is your local medical provider doing to ensure the best possible outcomes for your business and your employees; Case Study—how one local employer reduced their experience mod 150 points.
